For around 250 years I’ve been building digital products and technologies in the Entertainment, Community, and Marketing spaces. I’ve had wonderful experiences in senior executive positions at Warner Bros. and MTV Networks, huge successes at startups like Grindr — and then there was CTO at Myspace… a super-tough experience, yet even that one was a tremendous source of learning, and amazing people.
Anyone who’s ever worked with me knows I have… a few opinions. But outside of work and friends, I’ve never stopped to package those ideas about Tech Leadership, Architecture, Product, New Technologies together and share them broadly.
But I’m going to start doing that now. My posts and podcast episodes will largely not go down to coding or infrastructure-level detail, so don’t expect to “code along with me” or anything like that. After all, if it’s the podcast and you’re driving, well, that would be a terrible idea, but I will talk to tech detail, often for the sake of illustrating my point.
My first few posts will, not surprisingly, cover some really compelling categories in AI but, much like me, this little blog (“Yes, But Faster”) will never, ever drink the KoolAid. And future posts will dive into everything from organizational development to React, Analytics Strategies, Enterprise Cloud Management planning, Work from Home, Slack/Email/Zoom/IRL, and the list goes on and on. Oh, and my post on Tailwind CSS? Brace yourself, that one’s gunna be a doozy.
I’m excited to do this because I look forward to comments on LinkedIn (argumentative is great, telling me I’m stupid and gay, not so much) and an opportunity to discuss with smart people.
Before I move on to my first real post, I’ll leave you with this little irrelevancy: Have you noticed that LinkedIn is now, strangely, a place where the animal, dancing, and hair-styling videos of TikTok and Instagram are all just being repurposed with captions explaining that “the way this duck is catching fish tells us everything we need to know about marketing”? Well, I promise, NO DUCKS!
